Bookings for our events are non-refundable. This page explains what that means, and the one circumstance in which we may be able to help.

Applying is free

There is no charge to submit an application. Where an event carries a fee, the amount is shown on that event’s page before you apply, so you know the cost before filling anything in.

Payments are non-refundable

Once your registration and payment are complete, your booking is confirmed and no refund is provided. This includes where you:

• decide not to attend;
• are unable to attend because of personal circumstances;
• arrive late or leave the event early;
• change your mind after booking;
• do not find a suitable match at the event.

The reason is that organising an event means committing to a venue, planning the room around confirmed numbers, and running the matching on the list of people who have booked. Those costs are incurred before the evening arrives.

Transferring to another event

If you cannot attend, we may be able to move your booking to a future event instead of refunding it. A transfer:

• must be requested before the date of the event you booked;
• applies only to a future event organised by us;
• depends on places being available on the date you want;
• is not confirmed until we tell you it is.

This is offered at our discretion rather than as a right, but we would always rather find you another date than have you lose the booking. Ask us as early as you can.

If you do not turn up

If you do not attend and have not contacted us beforehand, the booking is treated as used. No refund or transfer is available.

If you are removed from an event

Where a participant is removed for behaviour that breaches our terms and conditions, no refund is given.

If we change or cancel an event

We make every effort to run events as advertised, but dates, times, venues and formats can change for reasons outside our control. Where that happens we will give you as much notice as we can and tell you what the alternatives are.

We are not responsible for travel, accommodation, childcare or other personal costs connected with attending an event.
