General events
General Muslim matchmaking events
Open to Muslims of every background. For anyone whose community is not listed elsewhere on this site, whose family is mixed, or who simply does not want heritage to be the first filter.
When the community filter is the wrong filter
We run events for particular communities because for a lot of people that is what makes the introduction work – shared language, shared expectations, families who will recognise each other.
For plenty of others it is the opposite. Their parents are from two different countries. They grew up somewhere with no community to speak of. Their background is not on any list. Or they have simply decided that deen and character matter more to them than where a family originally came from, and they would rather not narrow the room before they have met anyone.
These evenings are for them. Everything else is identical: you apply, a person reads it, and compatibility is checked across the whole list before invitations go out. The only difference is that heritage is not the organising line.
What still gets matched
Removing the community filter does not mean removing the matching. Age, city, level of practice and prayer, education, profession and everything you stated as a preference are all still weighed – and if country or language does matter to you, you can say so on the form and it will be taken into account.

How the evening runs
- You apply. Around ten minutes. Practice, background, work, city, and what you are looking for in a spouse.
- A person reads it. Every application individually, free-text box included.
- Matching runs once. After registration closes, the whole list is matched together rather than in the order people applied.
- Invitations go out. Venue and timings by email. Numbers are kept even between men and women.
- On the night. Supervised, structured introductions, with a guardian lounge for anyone who brought one.

Questions about these events
Is a general event a lower-quality event?
No. Same form, same review, same matching, same supervision. The only thing that changes is that the room is not organised around one heritage.
My community has its own event. Can I still come to this one?
Yes, and many do – either as well as, or instead of. Each event has its own application, and your account keeps them together in one place.
Will there be anyone from my background there?
It depends who applied to that particular event. If a shared language or country matters to you, put it on the form as a preference and the matching will weigh it. It is a preference rather than a guarantee, and we would rather say that plainly than promise otherwise.
Can a guardian come with me?
Yes – one guardian per female guest. They wait in a separate lounge with refreshments and are welcome to join at the end. Tell us on the application form.
Is this halal?
The format is built around it. Introductions are supervised throughout, seating is arranged rather than open, guardians are provided for, and the stated purpose is marriage. Nobody is asked to hand over a phone number in the room.
No general date open yet?
Every event is announced to the mailing list before registration opens, and places are limited. One email per event, one click to stop.
