Questions
Everything people ask before applying
Grouped by where you are in the process. If yours is not here, send it to us and we will reply.
Applying
How do I apply?
Open the event you are interested in from Browse events and complete the form on that page. It takes about ten minutes. You will need to choose a password as part of the form – that creates your account, so there is no separate sign-up step.
What does the form ask?
Your name and contact details, age, gender, nationality and ethnicity, your city, your level of practice and prayer, whether you are a revert, your education and profession, and what you are looking for in a spouse. There is also a free-text box for anything you would like the team to take into account.
The full list is set out on the about page.
Is there a fee to apply?
Applying to an event is free. Where an individual event or service carries a charge, the amount is shown on that event’s page before you apply – you will not reach the form without having seen it.
Can I apply to more than one event?
Yes. Each event has its own application, and your account keeps them all together in one place.
After you apply
When will I know if I have a place?
Within three to five days after registration closes for that event. Matching runs once the full applicant list is in, which is why we do not decide as applications arrive.
Why does registration close before the event?
Because matching needs the complete list. If we accepted applications up to the day, the people who applied early would be matched against a smaller pool than the people who applied late.
What happens if I am not accepted?
Places are limited and the balance of men and women has to work, so not every application can be accepted for every event.
You are welcome to apply to the next one. Joining the mailing list – the form at the foot of this page – means you hear about new dates first.
Where do I see my application?
Sign in and open your dashboard. Your applications and their status are there.
At the event
What should I bring?
Valid photo ID for check-in. Everything else is provided.
What should I wear?
Smart, modest attire. There is no stricter dress code than that.
Can I bring a guardian?
Yes – one guardian per female guest. Guardians wait in a separate lounge with refreshments and are welcome to join at the end.
Please tell us on the application form so we can plan the room.
What actually happens on the night?
Arrival and check-in from thirty minutes before the start, a short welcome explaining how the evening runs, then structured introductions with the people you have been matched to, followed by open conversation time. Refreshments are served throughout.
Online events
How are online events different?
Only the room. The same application, the same review by the same team, and the same matching. The introductions happen over video at the scheduled time.
How do I join?
Once your place is confirmed you are sent a joining link. It is personal to you – please do not pass it on.
Your information
Who sees what I write on the form?
The team that reviews applications and runs the matching. Other guests never see your form. What they see at the event is what you choose to tell them.
Can I withdraw?
Yes, at any time. Tell us and we will remove you from the event and, if you ask, delete your information. See our privacy policy for the detail.
